BOARDMAN - Gearing up for its grand opening in the Summer of
2009, the management of Pacific Northwest Motorsports Park
(PNWMP) has named Mike Silcox, a former racecar driver and
member of the promotional team that brought the American LeMans
Series to Portland, as the motorsports country club's Director
of Track Events.

Well, technically, it's not yours and yours alone. But in most cases, it is indeed private. And membership is indeed limited.

BOARDMAN, OR: Phase I of the Pacific Northwest Motorsports
Park breaks ground. The first motorsports country club
in the Pacific Northwest is expected to open to members and
enthusiasts in the fall 2008. Bill Gardner painted a somewhat
obscure picture Thursday of what folks might expect when his
organization has completed Phase I of the Pacific Northwest
Motorsports Park. He said it would be like the Autobahn - not
the high-speed German roadway, but the Autobahn Country Club.

SALEM - Lawmakers in Salem gave a green light Wednesday to
developers negotiating for the proposed Pacific Northwest Motorsports
Park. Senate Bill 665 now needs the governor's approval.
 Both chambers approved a bill to expedite the land-use review of a d estination
resort and amenities that would surround the proposed NASCAR-style speedway that
developers want to build near Boardman.
Developers of the Pacific Northwest Motorsports Park hope to
break ground on the two 2-mile interlocking road courses this

Lawmakers push to adjourn the 2007 legislative session

 SALEM, Ore. (AP) - The push to close down the 2007 legislative
session by the end of this week continued Wednesday, with
lawmakers taking up a potpourri of bills, from spending for
construction on university campuses to a proposed NASCAR-style
speedway in Eastern Oregon.
Lawmakers were hoping to wrap things up by Thursday - a day
ahead of the scheduled Friday adjournment.
House Speaker Jeff Merkley, D-Portland,

a Senate Bill that would enact strict annual gifts to lawmakers
or other officials from people with an interest in legislation,

SALEM Lawmakers gave the green light to developers negotiating
for the proposed Pacific Northwest Motorsports Park earlier
today in Salem. Senate Bill 665 now needs the governor’s
approval.
Both chambers approved a bill to expedite the land-use review of a destination
resort and amenities that would surround the proposed NASCAR-style speedway that
developers want to build near Boardman.
Billie Jean Morris, Boardman Chamber of Commerce chief executive officer, who
will begin as director of marketing with Oregon International Speedway on July
1, was happy to hear the news.

OLYMPIA -- Twice rebuffed by Washington counties, NASCAR
promoters say they're not giving up on the Northwest, but
the number of places suitable for a major stock car racing
track -- and willing to build one -- is dwindling.
The latest to say no was Kitsap County after originally courting
the International Speedway Corp., operators of 12 tracks
nationwide that host Nextel Cup series events. County leaders
backed off when local opposition emerged and the state was
unwilling to pay for half the cost of a track.

An Eastern Oregon port district would welcome a NASCAR track
on its 1,400 acres of sagebrush near the Columbia River town
of Boardman.
"This is a place that wants them," Port of Morrow manager Gary Neal
said. "It's a great fit."
Backers first proposed Boardman, about 160 miles east of
Portland, for a speedway about seven years ago, and several
investor groups have offered plans to make it happen over
the years. Groundbreaking has been tentatively set several
times, the last in fall 2006, but has never taken place.
